Assam's Kamrup district is all geared up to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday by running a mega vaccination drive on September 17. This step has been taken to intensify the Covid-19 vaccination in the State.
Immunization centres have already been set up for the drive by the Kamrup health department in coordination with the district administration.
It may be mentioned that a total of 8 lakh vaccine doses have been targeted across the State on Friday and to achieve this goal, a target of 25,000 vaccines has been set for the Kamrup district.
However, the district health department has planned to vaccinate 40,000 people and to achieve this target, more than 200 vaccination centres have already been set in the district. The schools of the area under Block Primary Health Centres are utilized for vaccination centres.
Special emphasis will be given in char areas under the district and accordingly, 5,000 vaccines are targeted to be given in Hajo Char area. Similarly, special measures have been taken to provide vaccines in the Char area of Chaygaon.
On the other hand, a mobile vaccination team is also prepared under Azara block primary health centre for the purpose. The second dose of Covaxin and both doses of Covishield will be available for the eligible persons on that day.
Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup Kailash Karthik N urged all to work diligently in coordination with all concerned officials to carry out this mission of mega Covid-19 vaccination drive smoothly and successfully.
A total of 11,80,144 Covid vaccines have been administered to date in the Kamrup district. Out of these 9,37,622 are first doses and 2,42,522 are second doses.
