Two unidentified militants belonging to the newly formed United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) were killed in an encounter with police forces in the ultapani area of Kokrajhar, Assam.
As per reports, two pistols and eight grenades were recovered from the possession of the two militants after the encounter.
According to police sources, the deceased were cadres of the newly formed militant outfit ULB and were involved in extortion and other illegal activities.
Currently, the bodies have been kept at RNB civil hospital, Gossaigaon.
It may be noted, the new militant outfit was formed by a group of youths demanding a separate Bodo state.
In a recent viral video, ULB members were seen wearing military camouflage and covering their faces with black masks, opposing the Bodo Peace Treaty signed among the Centre, the Assam government and former militant groups of BTAD.
A youth, who is thought to be the leader of the outfit said that they are unhappy with the Peace Treaty, hence they returned to the jungle.
"We have got a small piece of land as per the Boro Peace Treaty. It could not fulfil our hopes and aspirations. So, we have returned to the jungle. We demand separate Boro state", the youth was seen saying with folded hands in the video.
