In a shocking incident, a man was administered an anti-rabies medicine instead of Covid-19 vaccine at a medical centre in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
After the incident, a doctor and a nurse of the facility were suspended, as said by a Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) official.
The local resident identified as Rajkumar Yadav went to the healthcare centre in Kalwa area on Monday to get a jab against the Covid-19 virus.
But Yadav stood in the wrong queue and he was informed after being vaccinated that he was administered the vaccine against rabies, a spokesperson of the Municipal Corporation said on Tuesday.
The man panicked, but he is fine and has no complications, as informed by the official.
As per reports, Yadav then complained to authorities and based on a preliminary enquiry, a woman doctor, who was in-charge of the medical centre, and a nurse were placed under suspension for the goof-up.
It is to be mentioned, the medical centre where the man got the anti-rabies jab is located in a slum colony of Kalwa which provides vaccination against various diseases to people in the area.
