A tragic road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district claimed 20 lives early Friday, October 24, morning when a private travel bus caught fire after colliding with a two-wheeler near Chinnatekur. Preliminary reports indicate that around 40 passengers were on board, of whom 18 have been confirmed alive. Police stated that several bodies were charred beyond recognition, making identification difficult.
According to official sources, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. The collision between the bus and the two-wheeler triggered a massive blaze that quickly engulfed the entire vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that flames first erupted in the front portion of the bus before spreading rapidly. Twelve passengers managed to break open the emergency exit and escape with minor injuries. They were immediately taken to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment.
Heavy rainfall was reported in the area at the time of the mishap, which may have contributed to the collision. The bus was completely gutted in the fire, and rescue teams faced challenges due to the intensity of the flames and weather conditions. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and the subsequent fire.
