Twenty-two individuals have been arrested across Assam for allegedly making ‘seditious’ remarks about the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday, April 28, that Normal Hoque had been arrested by Goalpara Police, Seikh Saroj by Tamulpur Police, and Firajul Islam by Dhubri Police for making anti-India comments, bringing the total number of arrests to 22 so far.
Earlier, the CM warned that the National Security Act (NSA) would be invoked against anyone found directly or indirectly supporting Pakistan.
AIUDF legislator Aminul Islam was the first to be arrested, on April 24, for allegedly linking the Pahalgam incident and the 2019 Pulwama attack to PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
