The individuals arrested are: Mattiur Rahman (Darrang), Hassan Ali Mondal (Goalpara), Abdul Latif (Chirang), Wajhul Kamal (Kamrup) and Nur Amin Ahmed (Bongaigaon).

Following the arrest of retired school principal Nazrul Islam Barbhuiya from Silchar by the Assam Police for making inflammatory remarks on the Delhi Red Fort blast, authorities have now detained five more individuals from different parts of the state. The arrested persons include Mattiur Rahman (Darrang), Hassan Ali Mondal (Goalpara), Abdul Latif (Chirang), Wajhul Kamal (Kamrup), and Nur Amin Ahmed (Bongaigaon). Police sources stated that the arrests came after intensive monitoring of online activity aimed at curbing the spread of communal hatred and the glorification of terrorist acts.

The Assam Police have underscored their resolve to act decisively against anyone using social media to incite violence or disrupt public order. The move is part of a broader effort to prevent radicalization and maintain communal harmony in the state, reflecting a zero-tolerance approach toward extremist behavior.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, speaking to the media in Guwahati, linked the accused in the Delhi blast case to religious extremism, cautioning that education alone does not prevent radical tendencies. “Being educated can make a person more dangerous if there is a flaw in the mind,” he said, noting that even professionals, including doctors, can be susceptible to extremist ideologies. The blast occurred on November 10 evening near the Red Fort Metro Station on Netaji Subhash Marg, a heavily trafficked area near Red Fort and Chandni Chowk, causing damage to vehicles and shattering glass in nearby buildings.
