Indian Air Force (IAF) chief AP Singh has revealed that the armed forces’ surface-to-air missile systems successfully destroyed five Pakistani fighter jets and an airborne surveillance aircraft during Operation Sindoor. He made the disclosure while delivering the Air Chief Marshal LM Katre lecture in Bengaluru.
Singh further stated that India’s strikes on May 10 targeted Pakistan’s military installations, inflicting damage on parked US-made F-16 fighter jets at the Jacobabad airbase. The attacks also crippled two command-and-control centres, hampering Pakistan’s operational capabilities.
According to the IAF chief, multiple airbases—some still under development—were pounded during the operation. The sustained offensive over three days of hostilities ultimately compelled Pakistan to approach India for a ceasefire agreement.
