India's long-term skilling mission is showing results, with the country ranked 27th in QS World Future Skills Index, and second in Future of Work

India’s extensive efforts over the past ten years in its skilling mission are beginning to yield positive outcomes, establishing the nation as a leading job market for future essential skills.

The first QS World Future Skills Index places India at 27th overall, highlighting its performance in critical areas: 37th in Skills Fit, 26th in Academic Readiness, and 40th in Economic Transformation.

The country ranks second in the Future of Work category, trailing only the US.

 This index assessed more than 190 nations, analyzed over 280 million job listings, examined the skills requirements of over five million employers, reviewed data from more than 5,000 universities, and considered 17.5 million research publications. India has demonstrated notable proficiency in incorporating AI into its labor market.

The QS analysis highlights India’s preparedness to embrace AI, digital, and sustainable technologies, positioning it ahead of numerous other countries. According to the World Economic Forum, there is an anticipated 60% growth in AI competencies and a 35% increase in digital skills by 2030, along with the generation of 24 million green jobs, which underscores the importance of workforce adaptability.
