Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that the Modi administration has allocated Rs 11 trillion for infrastructure development over the past year, in contrast to the Congress-led UPA government, which invested only Rs 2 trillion annually in this area.
During a press conference aimed at outlining the various provisions of the recently unveiled Union Budget, he emphasized that the budget is designed to foster self-reliance in India and aspires to position the nation as a ‘Vishwaguru’ (world leader) by the year 2047.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently stated that he views the poor, farmers, women, and youth as the four essential groups in our society, and this budget is tailored to support these demographics,” he remarked. “Over the past year, we have allocated Rs 11 trillion towards infrastructure development, in contrast to the Rs 2 trillion spent by the UPA during their tenure,” the Minister of Communications noted.
In his statement, he noted that over the past year, 2,031 kilometers of railway lines were established and 6,000 kilometers of national highways were constructed.
Additionally, in the telecommunications sector, towers have been erected in 10,700 villages to enhance connectivity.
