India is witnessing a positive trend in women’s participation in higher education, as a recent study indicates a 26 percent year-on-year increase in their enrolment for 2024.
Men’s enrollment in Indian universities saw an increase of 3.6 percent during the same timeframe.
The report from TeamLease Edtech indicates that total student enrollment rose by roughly 12 percent from 2023 to 2024.
The involvement of women in work-linked, work-integrated, and direct admission (DA) programmes has more than doubled, reflecting an impressive growth rate exceeding 124 percent. Similarly, men’s participation in these programmes experienced a significant rise of approximately 66 percent.
