According to the most recent subject-specific rankings published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), nine Indian institutions have secured positions within the top 50 universities globally.
The rankings, which cover 55 subjects across five major categories including arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, and social sciences and management, have recognized 79 Indian institutions as part of the top 550 universities globally, an increase from 69 institutions the previous year.
“A total of 79 Indian universities – 10 more than last year – feature 533 times across this year’s rankings, marking a 25.7% increase compared to the previous edition. This includes 454 entries in individual subjects and 79 appearances across the five broad faculty areas,” QS said in a statement.
The IIT (ISM) in Dhanbad secured the top position in the engineering-mineral and mining category, ranking 20th with an impressive overall score of 74.7 out of 100, marking a significant advancement from its previous year’s ranking of 41st.
