The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), recognized as the largest domestic rooftop solar program globally, has achieved a significant milestone, with 1 million homes now utilizing solar energy as of March 10, according to an official announcement from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
Initiated by PM Narendra Modi on February 13, 2024, the program is revolutionizing India’s energy sector.
The government has received 4.73 million applications and allocated Rs. 4,770 crore in subsidies to 613,000 beneficiaries, thereby enhancing the accessibility of solar energy for Indian households.
