India's efforts and progress in reducing preventable child deaths has been lauded as "exemplar" by the United Nations

India’s initiatives and advancements in decreasing preventable child mortality have been praised as a model by the United Nations. The organization highlighted health programs like Ayushman Bharat, noting that the nation has preserved millions of young lives through targeted investments in its healthcare system.

The report from the United Nations Inter-Agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation, published on Tuesday, showcased five “exemplar countries”—India, Nepal, Senegal, Ghana, and Burundi—that have successfully reduced child mortality. It emphasized the various strategies employed by these nations that have significantly advanced efforts to decrease preventable child deaths.

The report indicated that these nations demonstrate that through “political commitment, data-driven strategies, and ongoing investments, even in resource-limited environments facing distinct challenges, significant decreases in mortality can be realized, moving the world nearer to eliminating preventable child deaths.”
