Three terrorists and three police officers were killed, and seven others injured, including a deputy superintendent, in an intense battle in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district

Three terrorists and as many policemen were killed in a day-long gunfight in the remote forested area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

Seven other policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were injured the encounter that was led by Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and assisted by the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), officials said.

The J&K Police has neither confirmed nor denied the death of the policemen, saying a clear picture will emerge once the parties reach the scene on Friday morning.

The encounter broke out around 8 am on Thursday amid intensified operations led by Jammu and Kashmir Police against a recently infiltrated group of ultras believed to be members of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
