Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade is in legal trouble after a fraud case was registered against him in Uttar Pradesh.
Talpade and 14 others have been accused of cheating people out of crores of rupees through a chit fund scheme. This alleged fraud had reportedly been happening in Mahoba district for the past 10 years.
The accused ran a company called The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited, which promised villagers huge returns on their investments. Reports claim that agents of the company convinced villagers that their money would double quickly but later disappeared when the company came under legal scrutiny.
A case has been registered at the Srinagar police station, and an investigation is underway.
