A massive ongoing traffic jam has been reported from the Jorabat area of Guwahati

In the wake of Jorabat traffic jam, Upper Assam travelers and people coming from Meghalaya have been urged to take alternative routes to reach Guwahati with Traffic Police issuing an urgent advisory in the wake of the massive traffic jam that has become an almost regular affair at Jorabat since the past several days owing to the construction work untaken by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The advisory has also taken strict measures to regulate movement of goods-carrying vehicles coming to Guwahati.

A key component of the new traffic management plan is the complete diversion of all goods-carrying vehicles destined for Guwahati from Upper Assam. These vehicles will now be rerouted at Kaliabor Tiniali, taking alternative routes through Sonitpur, Darrang, and Baihata Chariali to ease congestion at the Jorabat junction.

Besides, a time-restricted entry system has been implemented for Nagaon, Morigaon, and Meghalaya goods vehicles, permitting entry into Guwahati city limits through NH-27 during 10 PM to 6 AM only. Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) from Upper Assam are requested to avoid the Khanapara–Jorabat corridor and use recommended alternative routes.

The authorities are encouraging the public to comply with the new traffic rule and take guidance from the traffic personnel for safe and easier passage of vehicles amidst this period of construction.
