Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a statue of Maharana Pratap and honored his legacy in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.
During the event, Singh emphasized the measures implemented by the present government to achieve self-reliance in India’s defense sector. He noted that defense exports from India have now attained a value of Rs 24,000 crore and expressed optimism that these exports will rise to Rs 50,000 crore by the year 2029-30.
Singh stated, “We are dedicated to achieving self-sufficiency in India’s defense production. When our government assumed office in 2014, defense exports from India stood at about Rs 600 crore. Currently, we have boosted this figure to nearly Rs 24,000 crore. Our goal is to elevate it to Rs 50,000 crore by the year 2029-30.”
