India’s automobile exports surged by 19 per cent in the 2024-25 fiscal year, reaching over 5.3 million units, driven by strong demand for passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, and commercial vehicles in global markets.
According to data from industry body SIAM, total vehicle exports stood at 5,363,089 units, up from 4,500,494 units in FY 2023-24.
Passenger vehicle exports rose 15 per cent to 770,364 units, marking their best-ever annual performance. The growth was fueled by rising global demand for models manufactured in India, with utility vehicles leading the segment with a 54 per cent jump to 362,160 units.
Two-wheeler exports saw a 21 per cent rise to 4,198,403 units, up from 3,458,416 in the previous fiscal, supported by new model launches and expansion into new markets. SIAM noted that economic stability in Africa and increased demand in Latin America also contributed to the growth.
Three-wheeler exports registered a modest 2 per cent increase, reaching 310,000 units. Commercial vehicle exports climbed 23 per cent to 80,986 units, compared to 65,818 units the previous year.
SIAM highlighted that India’s improved manufacturing quality has enabled exports even to developed markets, and that demand from key regions like Africa and neighboring countries is expected to remain strong.
