Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced prize money for 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who broke the record for the youngst to hit a T20 hundred

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announced a prize of Rs 1 lakh for Vaibhav Suryavanshi following his sensational century in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Jaipur. The Chief Minister took to social media to share photos from their meeting in 2024, extending his best wishes to the 14-year-old for his future in international cricket.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who hails from Samatsipur, Bihar, made history by becoming the youngest player to score a century in the history of Twenty20 cricket.

The Rajasthan Royals opener played fearlessly, smashing 11 sixes to complete a 35-ball century, the fastest by an Indian in the IPL and the second-fastest overall, behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton. His remarkable batting display helped Rajasthan Royals chase down a 210-run target in just 15.5 overs, defeating Gujarat Titans in style.

At just 13 years old, Vaibhav was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024, at the tender age of 12 years and 284 days.
