The move comes after India announced the closure of the Attari-Wagah land border following the Pahalgam attack, crippling bilateral trade

India has banned direct or indirect import of all goods from Pakistan with immediate effect, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry notified on Saturday, May 3.

As per the Commerce Ministry notification, a newly added provision in the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) mentions prohibition of “direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan with immediate effect until further orders”.

Notably, India had already closed the Wagah-Attari border, the sole trade route between India and Pakistan, in the aftermath of the barbaric attack in J&K’s Pahalgam on April 22 that led to a further deterioration in ties between the two neighbouring countries.
