The ministry of defence said that as many as 9 sites were struck by India and no Pakistani military facilities were targeted

The Indian Armed Forces on Wednesday, May 7, initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’, launching precision strikes on nine locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), including Muridke and Bahawalpur, which are the strongholds of terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, respectively. These targeted sites were linked to terrorist infrastructure allegedly involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 fatalities.

The Ministry of Defence clarified that none of the targeted sites were Pakistani military facilities. The operation utilized advanced weaponry, including Rafale jets armed with SCALP missiles and AASM Hammer bombs, and lasted approximately 24 minutes.

“Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted. Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution. These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable. There will be detailed briefing on ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, later today,” the Ministry of Defence said.

“Justice is Served. Jai Hind!” the Indian Army said on X following the attack. The attacks were were carried out at 1:44am.

Later, Pakistan army confirmed the strikes by India on early Wednesday and vowed to “respond to the attack”. Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif called it an “act of war”.
