At the outset of Wednesday’s high-level Cabinet meeting, PM Narendra Modi received unanimous congratulations from his ministers on the successful execution of Operation Sindoor – a series of precision airstrikes targeting nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
As reported, the PM took a few minutes to brief his Cabinet colleagues on the operation and its outcomes, calling it a “moment of national pride.” He also held high-level consultations with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah in the hours following the strikes.
It’s a proud moment for all of us,” Modi said, as per officials present in the meeting. The Prime Minister told his ministers that this was a new India.
Reports suggest that over 80 terrorists were neutralized in the early-morning airstrikes, including ten individuals believed to be close aides and family members of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) founder Masood Azhar.
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the operation, Modi’s planned three-nation tour of Europe – covering Croatia, Norway, and the Netherlands from May 13 to 17 – has been cancelled. Modi was set to attend the Nordic Summit in Norway, but it is now off his agenda. The respective governments have been formally notified of the change.
