Dino Morea was reportedly summoned after investigators uncovered multiple phone conversations between him, his brother, and the prime accused in the case, Ketan Kadam

Actor Dino Morea was questioned by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police on Monday in connection with the Rs 65-crore Mithi River cleaning scam. Morea was summoned after his name surfaced during the course of the investigation. He appeared at the EOW office located in the Mumbai Police Headquarters.

The case pertains to the alleged embezzlement of over ₹65 crore that was earmarked for cleaning the Mithi River. Investigators are probing financial irregularities related to the rental of silt-pushing and dredging machinery by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

According to officials, the scam involves inflated charges for equipment supplied to the BMC, allegedly in collusion with officials from the civic body’s storm water drains (SWD) department and executives from Matprop. A few weeks ago, the EOW arrested two individuals – Ketan Kadam and Jayesh Joshi – accused of acting as middlemen in the supply chain.

Ketan Kadam is the director of Woder India LLP, a Mumbai-based desilting services firm, while Jayesh Joshi is linked to Virgo Specialties Pvt Ltd, a local industrial equipment manufacturer.  So far, 13 people have been booked in connection with the scam.

Morea made his Bollywood debut with the hit film Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi and went on to star in several movies including Raaz, Gunaah, Aksar, Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee, Dus Kahaniyaan, and Heroes. He was last seen in the web series The Royals, which also featured Zeenat Aman, Ishaan Khatter, and Bhumi Pednekar. Up next, Dino will appear in Housefull 5, set for a grand release on June 6.
