PM Modi to visit Gangtok on March 29 for Sikkim statehood day celebrations

PM Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and 30, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of major development projects, as well as participate in public programmes and address gatherings.

On May 29, the PM will begin his tour in Sikkim, where he will take part in the event ‘Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth’, marking 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. As part of the celebrations, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several key projects, including a 500-bed district hospital in Namchi worth over Rs 750 crore, a passenger ropeway in Pelling, and a statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok. He will also release commemorative coins and a stamp celebrating Sikkim’s golden jubilee.

Later in the afternoon, PM Modi will visit Alipurduar in West Bengal to lay the foundation stone of the City Gas Distribution project for Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. He will then proceed to Patna, Bihar, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of Patna Airport.

On May 30, the PM will be in Karakat, Bihar, to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore. He is also scheduled to address a public meeting. In the afternoon, he will travel to Kanpur Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, where he will launch and inaugurate additional projects amounting to around Rs 20,900 crore and deliver an address to the public.

The visit underscores the government’s ongoing focus on infrastructure development, regional connectivity, and public welfare across multiple states.
