Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old TikTok star from Chitral, was tragically shot and killed at her residence in Islamabad, according to reports from The Express Tribune and SAMAA TV. The incident occurred in Sector G-13 and falls under the jurisdiction of the Sumbal police station.
Police sources say an unidentified assailant entered the home and shot Sana at close range before fleeing the scene. SAMAA TV reported that the suspect may have been a guest at the residence at the time of the attack. Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate and apprehend the perpetrator.
Sana had garnered a large following on TikTok and was widely popular among young audiences for her engaging videos. Her killing is the latest in a disturbing pattern of violence connected to social media figures in Pakistan.
Earlier this year, a 15-year-old girl in Quetta was allegedly murdered by family members in what was described as an honour-related incident, also linked to her activity on TikTok.
Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding Sana’s death, though a clear motive has not yet been established.
Sana, who hailed from Chitral in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, had gained popularity through her TikTok videos. The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many of Sana’s followers demanding justice.
