Air India, owned by the Tata Group, on Saturday, June 14, announced that it will provide an interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of those who died in the crash, as well as to the sole survivor, to help meet immediate financial needs.
This would be in addition to the Rs 1 crore compensation support to the families of each person announced earlier by Tata Sons.
“Air India management team are in the city. We will remain present in Ahmedabad as long as it takes. To provide immediate financial support, Air India will be making an interim payment of Rs 25 lakh to each of the families of the deceased and also to the survivors,” Air India CEO Cambell Wilson said.
Wilson said that the airline’s teams are working closely with authorities to support the reunification process with the victims’ families. He acknowledged the emotional nature of the situation and requested that families be given privacy and space during this difficult time.
