Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is set to receive an Honorary Oscar at the upcoming 16th Governors Awards, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on November 16, 2025. The recognition marks a major milestone in the actor’s four-decade-long career, 35 years after his first Oscar nomination.
The 62-year-old actor, known for iconic films such as Top Gun and the Mission: Impossible franchise, has been praised for his enduring commitment to cinema and theatrical experiences. Cruise has previously earned three Academy Award nominations for his performances in Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, and Magnolia, as well as a Best Picture nomination for Top Gun: Maverick.
Cruise recently made headlines with the global success of Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, which was released in select markets including India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia-New Zealand on May 17, followed by a worldwide release on May 23.
On the other hand, legendary singer and actress Dolly Parton will be presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her philanthropic work. The country music icon, known for hits like 9 to 5, has distributed more than 285 million books through her Dollywood Foundation and Imagination Library. Parton is also a two-time Oscar nominee for Best Original Song.
