Diljit Dosanjh’s much-anticipated film Sardaar Ji 3, co-starring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, will not be released in India due to heightened tensions between the two countries following the Pahalgam terror attack. The film is now scheduled for an overseas-only release on June 27, 2025.
Diljit shared the trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 on Instagram, announcing the international release date with the caption: “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only / FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.” However, the trailer has been geo-blocked on YouTube in India, displaying the message: “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.” Despite this, the teaser and songs from the film remain accessible.
Sardaar Ji 3 sees Diljit reprise his popular ghost-hunting role, this time joined by Hania, who also plays a paranormal investigator. Set in the UK, the film blends action, comedy, and romance, with Neeru Bajwa and Hania’s characters both involved in a love triangle with Dosanjh’s.
The film became the subject of controversy after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025 led to a renewed backlash against Pakistani artists working in Indian productions. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny the film certification, citing the presence of several Pakistani actors, including Hania Aamir, Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela.
Following the controversy, the filmmakers opted to forgo an Indian theatrical release altogether. Adding to the tension, Hania Aamir’s Instagram account has also been restricted in India, reportedly due to her comments following Operation Sindoor, which were viewed by many as anti-India.
Sardaar Ji 3 is now set for an exclusive international release on June 27. Following the decision to skip the film’s release in India, Federation of Western India Cine Employees President BN Tiwari informed the media that the organization plans to issue an official directive to ban Diljit and the producers of Sardaar Ji 3 from working in India.
