India has reversed the ban on several Pakistani news and social media channels that had been blocked during Operation Sindoor, following the April 22 Pahalgam attack and subsequent military strikes on May 7.
YouTube channels such as Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, Bol News, Geo News, and others—including independent journalists and celebrities—have been gradually unblocked in India.
Instagram accounts of personalities like Mawra Hocane, Abida Parveen, Yumna Zaidi, Ahad Raza Mir, and Danish Taimoor are now accessible again. However, some accounts—such as Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Ali Zafar—remain blocked.
The initial block occurred under Operation Sindoor after numerous Pakistani media outlets were banned for allegedly spreading disinformation or criticizing India’s actions . That crackdown included over 8,000 social media accounts across platforms like YouTube, X, and Facebook
No official government statement has confirmed the reversal, but media speculation suggests that the channels are being reinstated gradually. The result: a partial lifting—not yet a full restoration of access to all previously blocked content.
