US President Donald Trump

In a significant legislative win for President Donald Trump, the U.S. Congress passed his ambitious $4.5 trillion “One Big Beautiful Bill,” marking a cornerstone achievement of his second term. The bill narrowly cleared the Republican-controlled House with a 218–214 vote and now heads to the president’s desk for signing.

The sweeping legislation combines deep spending cuts with extensive tax reforms. It makes permanent the 2017 tax reductions, introduces new tax breaks pledged during Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign, and secures major funding for immigration enforcement—one of his long-standing policy priorities.

Calling it a “historic achievement,” President Trump said, “This is the biggest bill of its kind ever signed — and it’s going to make this country into a rocket ship. It’s going to be really great.”

The White House confirmed that Trump will sign the bill into law at a public ceremony scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.
