Siraj celebrated Jamie Smith's wicket with a special gesture

India pacer Mohammed Siraj paid a touching tribute to Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car crash earlier this July. On Day 2 of the Lord’s Test, after dismissing Jamie Smith, Siraj marked the moment by forming a “No. 20” with his fingers — Jota’s jersey number.

The wicket was a crucial breakthrough, ending an 84-run partnership between Smith and Brydon Carse, who had staged a late resistance for England. Both batters scored half-centuries, helping England reach a total of 387.

Jota, aged 28, lost his life in a car accident in northwestern Spain on July 3, just ten days after his wedding. His younger brother, 25-year-old Andre Silva, also died in the crash. Initial reports indicated that the footballer was likely speeding when his Lamborghini crashed.
