Two people were killed and eight others, including a one-year-old baby, were injured after a four-storey building collapsed in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area on Saturday, July 12. Officials said several people are still feared trapped under the debris, prompting an ongoing rescue operation.
Among those trapped were members of a 10-person family who lived in the building, as well as a few individuals who happened to be nearby at the time of the collapse. Delhi Fire Services confirmed that the bodies of a man and a woman were recovered from the rubble and sent to GTB Hospital.
Eight injured victims have been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate and pull out anyone still trapped. According to a senior police officer, the first distress call was received around 7:04 am at the Welcome Police Station regarding the collapse near Idgah.
