US President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common circulatory condition in older adults that leads to blood pooling in the veins, the White House announced Thursday. The diagnosis came after Trump reported mild swelling in his lower legs and subsequently underwent a routine medical check-up.
According to a statement from the White House physician, Trump received a full vascular evaluation, including bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds. The tests confirmed the presence of chronic venous insufficiency but ruled out more serious conditions such as deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease. The physician emphasized that the condition is benign and frequently observed in individuals over the age of 70.
During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also addressed public speculation surrounding recent photos showing bruising on the back of Trump’s hand. She attributed the appearance to makeup used to conceal the marks, noting the product was not a perfect match to his skin tone.
