Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly defended his brother-in-law, Robert Vadra, in the wake of a chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to a controversial land deal in Haryana. Gandhi slammed the action as a “malicious, politically motivated slander and harassment” campaign, alleging it was part of a decade-long witch hunt targeting Vadra for political reasons.
Taking to X, Gandhi wrote, “My brother-in-law has been hounded by this government for the last ten years. This latest chargesheet is a continuation of that witch hunt. I stand with Robert, Priyanka and their children as they face yet another onslaught of malicious, politically motivated slander and harassment. I know that they are all brave enough to withstand any kind of persecution and they will continue to do so with dignity. The truth will eventually prevail (sic).”
On Thursday, the ED filed its first prosecution complaint naming Robert Vadra in connection with the alleged illegal purchase of land in Gurugram. The case centers on a 2008 deal in which Vadra’s company, Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., is accused of acquiring 3.53 acres of land in Shikohpur village, Sector 83, from Onkareshwar Properties Pvt. Ltd. for Rs 7.5 crore through questionable means.
Rahul Gandhi dismissed the charges as politically charged attempts to defame his family and divert attention from real issues. He reiterated that such legal actions, driven by vendetta, would not deter him or the Congress party from raising their voice against injustice and standing by their people.
