Prince Alwaleed was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud.

Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, often referred to as the “Sleeping Prince,” has passed away at the age of 36, nearly two decades after falling into a coma. The Saudi royal slipped into an unresponsive state following a tragic car accident in London in 2005, when he was just 15 years old and studying at a military college in the UK.

The accident left Prince Al Waleed with severe brain injuries and internal bleeding. Despite extensive medical efforts involving specialists from the United States and Spain, he never regained full consciousness. His condition remained critical, and he was placed on life support as doctors attempted every possible means of recovery.

After being transferred to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Prince Al Waleed remained under constant medical supervision for nearly 20 years. His long-term care and the family’s unwavering hope became a symbol of faith and perseverance across the Arab world. His death marks the end of a deeply emotional chapter for the royal family and many who followed his story over the years.
