The Drass War Memorial decorated to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the 1999 Kargil War

PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in paying homage to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War, as India marked the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday, July 26.

In a heartfelt message, PM Modi said, “Warm greetings to all citizens on Kargil Vijay Diwas. This day stands as a reminder of the unmatched courage and valor of the brave sons of Bharat Mata who gave their lives to uphold the nation’s honor. Their unwavering spirit and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations. Jai Hind!”

President Murmu echoed the sentiment, describing the day as a symbol of the “extraordinary valour, courage, and unwavering determination” of the Indian armed forces. “Their supreme sacrifice for the nation will always inspire every citizen,” she said. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute, recalling the heroic triumph of ‘Operation Vijay’ in 1999, which he called a shining chapter of unparalleled bravery and patriotism that the nation will forever cherish.
