Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, August 10, flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains, taking the total number of such high-speed services in India to 150. He also inaugurated the long-awaited Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro and laid the foundation stone for the city’s Metro Phase-3 — a Rs 15,610 crore project that will add 44 km of elevated tracks and 31 new stations.
Opening his address with lines in Kannada, the Prime Minister praised Bengaluru as a symbol of “new India” and a city that has placed the nation firmly on the global IT map. He attributed the city’s growth and success to the hard work, talent, and innovation of its people.
Touching on national security, PM Modi referred to Operation Sindoor, highlighting India’s capability to strike terrorist hideouts deep across the border and force Pakistan to retreat within hours. He credited the mission’s success to advanced technology and the strength of the ‘Make in India’ initiative in defence, noting the significant contributions of Bengaluru and Karnataka’s youth to this achievement.
