Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday, August 10, launched a sharp attack on US President Donald Trump over the steep tariffs imposed on India, remarking that the US administration — which he dubbed the “Sabka boss” — appeared unwilling to accept India’s rapid emergence as a global power.
Speaking about the diplomatic strain that followed Trump’s decision to impose a 50 per cent tariff and penalty on India for purchasing Russian oil, Singh said, “There are some people who are not happy with the speed at which India is developing. They are not liking it. ‘Sabka boss toh hum hain,’ how is India growing at such a fast pace?”
He alleged that attempts were being made to make Indian-made goods costlier than those produced elsewhere, in the hope that higher prices would drive away global buyers. Despite this, Singh asserted that India’s momentum was unstoppable, declaring, “India is advancing so rapidly that I say with full confidence: no power in the world can now stop India from becoming a major global power.”
