Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, August 17, inaugurated two key highway projects in Delhi, developed at a combined cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore. The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and a stretch of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), both aimed at easing congestion in the capital and improving connectivity across the National Capital Region.
Ahead of the inauguration, PM Modi led a grand roadshow in Delhi’s Rohini area and personally reviewed the projects on-site. The government has described these highways as crucial for reducing traffic bottlenecks and ensuring faster, smoother travel for commuters.
In an official statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said the projects reflect Modi’s vision of building world-class infrastructure to enhance ease of living and ensure seamless mobility. The event was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with several senior BJP leaders.
