Congress MP Rahul Gandhi

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, August 17, launched his 1,300-km-long ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ from Sasaram in Bihar, aiming to intensify the Opposition INDIA bloc’s campaign against what it calls “vote chori” (vote theft). Party president Mallikarjun Kharge and RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav joined him at the launch event.

Addressing supporters, Gandhi said the Yatra, which will pass through over 20 districts of poll-bound Bihar, represents a “fight to save the Constitution.” He alleged that both assembly and Lok Sabha elections across the country were being manipulated.

Gandhi also hit out at the Election Commission, claiming a “new conspiracy” was underway to tamper with voter lists in Bihar through the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise by deleting and adding names, which he alleged was part of a larger plan to “steal” elections.
