India on Wednesday, August 20, successfully test-fired the Agni-5 intermediate-range ballistic missile, marking another milestone in the country’s strategic defence capabilities. The launch took place from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.
In a statement, the defence ministry confirmed that the trial was aimed at validating all operational and technical parameters of the missile system. The test was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command, which oversees India’s nuclear arsenal.
The Agni-5, an advanced ballistic missile developed indigenously, is seen as a key element of India’s long-range deterrence strategy. Wednesday’s test reaffirms the system’s reliability and strengthens the country’s position in the global strategic landscape.
