Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, September 10, responded to US President Donald Trump’s remarks, reaffirming that India and the United States are “close friends and natural partners.” Modi expressed confidence that ongoing trade negotiations would help unlock the “limitless potential” of the bilateral partnership and said both sides were working to conclude the discussions swiftly.

Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest. I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people (sic).”

Trump, in his earlier message on Truth Social, had voiced optimism about the talks, saying he was “certain” they would reach a successful conclusion. He also described Modi as a “very good friend” and said he anticipated their upcoming conversation in the coming weeks.
