Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the 21st century belongs to India’s Northeast, emphasizing the government’s focus on the development of Manipur. He highlighted that the Centre has continuously prioritized the state, leading to a significant acceleration in its growth rate compared to the past.
Modi noted that prior to 2014, Manipur’s development rate was less than one per cent, but today the state is progressing many times faster. He described this period as a “new era of infrastructure development” for Manipur, underlining the transformative impact of sustained government efforts over the past decade.
The Prime Minister also pointed to major improvements in connectivity, saying that the pace of building roads and national highways has increased several times. He added that work is being carried out rapidly to ensure infrastructure reaches even the remotest villages, reflecting a commitment to inclusive and widespread development across the state.
