US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump has urged NATO to take stronger economic measures against both Russia and China in an effort to end the war in Ukraine. He called for all NATO member nations to stop purchasing Russian oil and to join the United States in imposing significant sanctions on Moscow.

In a letter addressed to NATO countries, Trump stated that he would only impose major sanctions on Russia once every NATO member had committed to doing the same and had halted oil purchases from Russia. He argued that such collective action was necessary to maximize pressure on the Kremlin.

Additionally, Trump proposed that NATO as a group impose tariffs ranging from 50% to 100% on Chinese goods. He suggested that these tariffs be lifted once the conflict between Russia and Ukraine comes to an end, claiming that such measures would play a crucial role in weakening Russia’s economic ties and ultimately helping to stop the war.
