Mother Dairy is passing on the benefits of the government’s GST 2.0 reforms to consumers, cutting prices across dairy and food products, effective September 22.

Mother Dairy announced on Tuesday, September 16, that it is cutting prices across its dairy and food product range, following the government’s major Goods and Services Tax (GST) 2.0 revamp. The revised prices will take effect from September 22. The price cuts apply to popular dairy items including UHT milk, paneer, ghee, butter, cheese, and milkshakes, reflecting the reduction in GST rates from 5–18% to 0–5% depending on the product. For example, 1-litre UHT milk (Tetra Pack) will now cost Rs 75 instead of Rs 77, and 500 gm butter will drop from Rs 305 to Rs 285.

The price revision also covers Mother Dairy’s ice creams and Safal processed foods, making them more affordable. Popular ice cream treats like the Choco Vanilla Cone and Kesar Pista Kulfi will be cheaper by Rs 5–10, while Safal items such as frozen French fries, Aloo Tikki, and packaged coconut water will see price drops ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 15. The company confirmed that pouch milk – the widely used poly pack milk varieties like Full Cream, Toned, and Cow Milk – remains exempt from GST and will see no change in pricing.

Commenting on the development, Mother Dairy Managing Director Manish Bandlish said the GST reduction across dairy and processed food products is a progressive move. He emphasized that the lower prices are expected to encourage higher consumption and promote the shift towards safe, high-quality packaged products.
