The IMD has issued a warning of very heavy rainfall across Assam over the next few days.

The weather office has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Assam over the next 2–3 days, including the Greater Guwahati area. Officials have warned that the downpour could worsen waterlogging, disrupt traffic, and increase the risk of localised landslides in vulnerable regions. Emergency systems have been placed on high alert to handle any situation. Following recent incidents of landslides and water blockage, DIPR Assam has urged all residents of the state and Guwahati city to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant.

Commuters and travellers have been advised to plan their journeys carefully and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain. Residents of low-lying and hillside areas have been asked to stay alert for possible flooding or landslides. People living in risk-prone areas are encouraged to keep essential supplies such as medicines, candles, and food ready. For assistance, the public can contact ASDMA at 0361-1070, 0361-1079, or 0361-112, and DDMA at 0361-1077.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected at most places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura between September 15 and 21. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience light to moderate showers with isolated heavy rainfall on September 15–17 and again on September 20–21, with very heavy falls expected on September 15 and 16.
