The Assam CID on October 1 arrested singer Zubeen Garg’s manager Siddhartha Sharma and North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta in connection with the probe into the artist’s death.

Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has said she suspects “everyone who was with him” in Singapore on the day of the his death, intensifying demands for a thorough investigation.

Speaking to the media, Garima expressed shock over the circumstances in which the celebrated artist drowned during a yacht outing on September 19.

“We want to know what really happened that day,” she said, calling for the probe to be conducted on a fast-track basis.

Her statement comes as the Assam Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma in Delhi. Both have been remanded to 14 days police custody as investigators attempt to reconstruct the Zubeen’s final hours. The SIT has launched raids and seized electronic records and documents as part of the probe.

The Centre has also invoked the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with Singapore to access official medical and forensic reports. Meanwhile, more than 50 FIRs have been filed across Assam, reflecting widespread anger and suspicion over alleged negligence.

Amid the unfolding investigation, the Assam government has declared three days of state mourning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Garg as the ‘Kohinoor of Assamese culture,’ while Garima has urged authorities to ensure that the truth is revealed without delay.
