The Assam CID on October 1 arrested singer Zubeen Garg’s manager Siddhartha Sharma and North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta in connection with the probe into the artist’s death.

Garima Saikia Garg, wife of late Zubeen Garg, has said she trusts the legal process following the arrest of two key figures linked to the artist’s death in Singapore.

Speaking to media in Jorhat, she said, “We have to know what exactly happened. They should be questioned. The investigation is on, and the law will take its own course. We all should cooperate.”

The Assam Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday, October 1, arrested Zubeen Garg’s manager Siddhartha Sharma from Gurugram and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after his return from Singapore. Both have been brought to Guwahati and sent to 14-day police custody.

The SIT had earlier issued summons to Sharma, Mahanta and others who were present on the yacht with Zubeen Garg, directing them to appear before investigators by October 6.

Zubeen Garg, 52, died in Singapore last month after being found floating face-down in the sea. He had travelled there to perform at the North East India Festival (NEIF).

Meanwhile, in Assam, the singer’s ashes have reached Jorhat for the 13-day ritual, with thousands expected to attend at the district’s iconic stadium. The State government has also announced plans to set up a second memorial for Zubeen in Jorhat.
