Bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami has alleged that Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta poisoned Zubeen Garg, claiming they chose the Singapore hotel venue to make the death appear accidental.

Garima Saikia Garg, wife of late singer-composer Zubeen Garg, on Saturday, October 4, refused to accept the post-mortem report handed over by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), citing concerns that publicizing the document at this stage could disrupt the ongoing investigation.

Speaking after meeting SIT officers, Garima said she trusts the law and wants the report to remain with the court and investigative authorities. “Because the investigation is still underway, I felt that releasing such information now could hinder the process, and therefore I did not accept the post-mortem report,” she stated.

Garima, emphasizing her lack of legal expertise, reiterated her faith in the justice system. “I do not know the law in detail. Let the post-mortem report stay with the court and the investigators,” she said, adding that she believes the probe is progressing properly.

Calling for swift and strict action, she said: “We must soon know what really happened. The investigation must be strengthened. Whoever is guilty must face the severest punishment.”

Rejecting any notion that the report is her personal property, Garima stressed, “The post-mortem report is not my personal property.” She also spoke emotionally about her personal loss: “I have lost my husband; I will never get him back. But he must get his due justice. Give justice to Zubeen Garg.”

Garima confirmed that the SIT has recorded statements from both her and Zubeen’s sister, Dr. Palmee Borthakur. Addressing allegations that Zubeen was poisoned during a trip to Singapore, she questioned the conduct of a key witness:
“If Shekhar knew all this time, why did he hide it? The guilty must be punished, and punished severely.”

Zubeen Garg’s bandmate, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, has alleged that the singer was poisoned in Singapore, leading to his death, according to official police documents. Goswami claimed that Garg was poisoned by his manager Siddharth Sharma and North East India Festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, as stated in the ‘Detailed Grounds of Arrest’ or remand note.

She further added, “My husband loved everyone so much; even then, why was he treated like this?”

The SIT continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death, and Garima has called for transparency, accountability, and justice for her late husband.
