In a major development in the investigation into singer Zubeen Garg’s death, key witness Rupkamal Kalita is set to arrive in Guwahati from Singapore on October 7, officials confirmed. Kalita’s testimony is expected to provide crucial insights into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Authorities have been urging overseas witnesses to cooperate, stressing that their presence in Assam is vital for completing the probe. Upon arrival, Kalita will be questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the case, which has already recorded multiple statements from other associates and witnesses.
The investigation has also involved international coordination, including the invocation of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with Singapore by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. The SIT continues to examine evidence and statements to determine whether foul play was involved in Garg’s untimely death.
